Bilstein & Siekermann® offers work placements in both technical and commercial fields. This enables students to gain initial work experience in the form of voluntary work placements during the school term, voluntary work placements in the holidays or after leaving school.
A work placement at Bilstein & Siekermann® is primarily intended to help you decide about your future profession and improve your knowledge of the field. There is a personal contact person available to all of our work experience students to answer any technical questions regarding their career choices. In the technical field, we offer work placements in manufacturing, maintenance and toolmaking. During the course of a two-to-four-week work placement, students can observe our skilled employees at work. You will gain an initial insight into the various fields of activity, spending time in several departments and learning about the content of our apprenticeship professions. You can work on your first assignment on your own as part of a voluntary work placement lasting several weeks. For example, you can monitor the manufacture of various end products or help retooling the machines. You will learn about manufacturing processes, experience the metal-processing business in a company with national and international customers, and gain insights into the field of punching and forming, automation and machining.
Commercial work placements are also available. You will gain an insight into various office and business processes and learn about how to use IT programs and our electronic inventory management system. Depending on the duration of the placement, you can spend time in multiple departments to gain an insight into various business areas, such as sales, purchasing, preparation, quality assurance and despatch.
