Dual degree in mechanical engineering
Are you just about to finish your baccalaureate or equivalent exams, or your technically based college entrance exam? Are you interested in technology and science? Do you want to combine your studies with a practical experience while also being financially independent? If so, Bilstein & Siekermann® has just the right apprenticeship to start your career.
You will start your career with a dual training programme and learn the job of a punching and forming mechanic, tool mechanic or machine tool or metal cutting mechanic. A one-year practical period in our company gives you an insight into our business and production processes, and also our production program. After this practical phase, you then go to the University of Trier,
where you will spend six semesters learning about production, manufacturing and automation technologies. You will also take various compulsory and elective modules and study mechanical engineering specialising in production technology.
At the same time, during the lecture-free period, you will work in the company with responsibility for process tasks that match what you are studying.
After four years of training, you have will have two qualifications proving that you have completed an apprenticeship and a degrees and that you also have the relevant professional experience to start your career at Bilstein & Siekermann®.
What we expect from you:
- Good higher education entrance qualification grades or very good advanced technical college certificate grades
- Good to very good knowledge of mathematics and physics
- Maths and/or physics A-level or equivalent
- Basic computer skills
- Proficient in written and spoken English
- Good technical understanding
- Self-reliance, organisational skills and a flexible approach
- Team player
- Initial work placement experience is an advantage
Training data:
- Start of training: 1st September every year
- Start of the degree course at University of Trier: every winter semester, 1 year after the start of the training
- Training period: 4 years
- Individual exam preparation
- Learning locations: Bilstein & Siekermann GmbH + Co. KG and University of Trier
- Training allowance: Pay is based on collective tariff agreements
- Leave: 30 days
