Process technician for metal Technical

Process technician for metal

Do you like working actively in manufacturing, enjoy technical challenges and mathematics and physics? Are you good with your hands and would like a career in the metals sector? Do you want to learn a new, innovative and exclusive profession? If so, Bilstein & Siekermann® has just the right apprenticeship for you to get your career started in the metal industry.

Process technicians in the metal sector need to work very precisely when making cold-forming parts, because everything must be accurate down to the last millimetre.

Their job is to set up and commission highly complex machinery, to program production systems and to plan, monitor and optimise production processes. They use extruded rod and cold-forming presses to manufacture parts that need to fulfil many quality standards.

They also need to understand technical drawings and evaluate material properties. Therefore, you are expected to understand the technical implications and to use the tools and machines responsibly.

You program machines, configure them to suit the respective circumstances, and create prototypes. You have to consider the properties of the material and shapes of the parts and put theory into practice. The prototyping results then need to be checked and the machine adjusted if necessary. Once all the measurements are OK, the product line starts. Responsibility and care are also required, as nonconforming products can be expensive for the company.

What we expect from you:

  • A good secondary school leaving certificate
  • A good to very good grasp of maths and physics
  • A precise and careful approach
  • A technical focus in the choice of school subjects
  • An interest in technically demanding tasks
  • Initial work placement experience is an advantage

Training data:

  • Start of training: 1st August every year
  • Training period: 3.5 years
  • On-the-job training and individual exam preparation
  • Training type: Dual vocational training, regulated by the Vocational Training Act
  • Learning locations: Bilstein & Siekermann GmbH + Co. KG and BBS Gerolstein/BBS Kehl
  • Training allowance: Pay is based on collective tariff agreements
  • Leave: 30 days
  • Social benefits: Company pension scheme, canteen and company health management

Tool mechanic Technical

Tool mechanic

Specialist field: Punching and forming technology

Are your good with your hands and interested in making tools for our production machines? Do you work very carefully and accurately? Are you aware that, from day one, you will assume responsibility at Bilstein & Siekermann® and face challenges every day at work? If so, Bilstein & Siekermann® has just the right apprenticeship to start your career.

As a toolmaking apprentice, you will learn to evaluate the technical drawings and plans to make and maintain the tools required for the various machines and production lines.

Precision and accuracy play an important role in your work, because the tools you manufacture have to meet special quality requirements in production, since the produced components have to fit exactly to hundredths of a millimetre.

The profession also demands a certain amount of creativity from you, as the toolmaking department develops independent solutions to improve the production cycle on the machine.

Continuous developments in production are realised by means of automated machines and special equipment as well as robotics. You present your ideas, implement your plans for special fabrications, and thus help to improve and keep the manufacturing processes running smoothly.

As a tool mechanic, you can expect a demanding, varied and practical job.

What we expect from you:

  • A good secondary school leaving certificate
  • A good to very good grasp of maths and physics
  • A precise and careful approach
  • A technical focus in the choice of school subjects

Cutting machine operator Technical

Cutting machine operator

Specialising in turning equipment

Do you like work actively in manufacturing, enjoy technical challenges and the subjects of mathematics and physics? Are you good with your hands and would like to work in the metal sector? Do you work responsibly, precisely and carefully? If so, Bilstein & Siekermann®, has just the right apprenticeship for you to start your career in the metal industry.

At Bilstein & Siekermann®, we manufacture our products individually to meet the needs of our customers. To do this, we use CNC turning machines that work very precisely.

The job of the metal cutting mechanic is to adapt and program these CNC machine tools and manufacturing systems to turn, mill or drill the parts as required. In addition, your job description includes monitoring and verifying quality of the end product. You will use state-of-the-art measurement techniques and test methods to meet specific requirements.

The CNC machines are regularly serviced by you and checked for errors, so there is a lot of manual work required. You must detect and correct any malfunctions or faults that occur in the production process.

Not only are you responsible for the manufacturing process, you also plan, organise and discuss the operations with upstream and downstream departments. For example, you produce screw plugs that will be used later in the car and commercial vehicle industry.
