Applications engineering
BSH engineering stands for our application development department. Customers can use our engineering services to access expert advice on the development of new components that meet their individual needs and quality requirements. Starting from the specific problem, we prepare a technical feasibility analysis containing statements about feasibility and manufacturing, taking into account technical, organisational and commercial requirements. This production analysis enables us to avoid potential problems and risks in the production process and to concentrate entirely on selecting the right manufacturing method and downstream processing procedures.
For this purpose, our BSH engineering development engineers have access to modern forming simulation software that serves as a model for the real process. This simulation uses special software to run through the forming of a workpiece on the computer. The simulation makes it possible to detect errors and problems during forming at an early stage on the computer e.g. wrinkles or cracks in the component. So no real tools need to be made for a practical test. Metal forming simulation has already established itself on a large scale in the automotive industry. Our development engineers can also make use of InTech+, our extensive knowledge database.
Manufacturability analysis
Quick answers on feasibility
Can the required component be manufactured and supplied? To answer this question quickly and reliably, Bilstein & Siekermann® has developed a software system that carries out a feasibility assessment. The evaluation takes into account parameters such as material, machine data, processing options and experience with other components. The system can develop well-founded proposals for manufacturing processes.
Interface assessment
Beyond manufacturing
In addition to the actual production process, the correct assessment of a component supplied by Bilstein & Siekermann® must also consider interfaces such as delivery, assembly and post-installation functionality. This interface assessment is given to customers as a technical report.

Technical report on the component
Can a new component be manufactured cost-effectively? Can it be optimised? Can it be used for other purposes? The application development department is available to answer any questions of this kind concerning material, strength and assembly processes. It produces technical reports for customers that contain all the knowledge pertaining to the component including interface assessments and calculations.
