Job fair in Gerolstein
The reason for holding the fair was to get job starters, people re-entering the workforce, job changers and start-ups into the "fast lane" and to offer them new employment opportunities.
Around 30 companies and businesses and their personnel and training managers were on site with their information stands. Alongside them, trainees, like me, were available to answer the visitors' questions.
Ms Ubl, the person responsible for human resources in our company, and I represented our company, Bilstein & Siekermann GmbH + Co. KG.
In addition to us, other well-known companies from the Eifel and the surrounding area, such as Gerolsteiner, Arla Foods from Pronsfeld, our neighbours from PAVOY and Haribo from Bonn were also present as exhibitors..
At our company's stand, the interested visitors were able to examine the products we had turned and pressed, as well as ask questions about the development and production in our company. Of course, we had also prepared a presentation about our company.
We also presented the apprenticeships in our company for which we are still looking for trainees: Industrial clerk, office management assistant, process engineer, cutting machine operator and the dual study programme in mechanical engineering.
Especially the number of young visitors at our stand was overwhelming. We answered their questions about the individual professions, the respective school requirements and, of course, everyday working life.
Due to my school and professional background, I could already tell a little about my everyday working life and hopefully pass on valuable tips for finding a career.
As I learned from Mrs. Ubl, a number of people applied for jobs in administration and production after the fair. Some of them have already come for a tour of the company, others have already been to try out their jobs with us.
This will certainly result in one or two new hires of new, motivated colleagues.
That would make us happy and shows us that we did a "job" at the fair.
