Career fairs at the Realschule plus schools in Kelberg and Daun in March 2018
My work is very diverse and interesting. For example, in the last two weeks, I have been planning and improving the ‘Young Talents’ training day scheduled for September 2018, developing new opportunities for apprenticeship advertising, reviewing and revising the ‘Career’ section of the homepage and creating an apprentice work plan, and revising a give-away, the ‘Apprenticeship Cube’.
My work progress was discussed regularly and I was always given immediate help with any questions I had. During the time I have spent working for the company, I noticed how all the departments are connected and there is a constant exchange of information.
On Thursday, 15 March 2018, and Friday, 16 March 2018, I worked with Ms Ubl as an exhibitor at two career fairs. In the run-up to the event, we discussed the broad goals and procedures of each event. Together, we selected and prepared the required materials such as info boards and pieces to exhibit.
The career fair on Thursday was organised by the Realschule plus school, Kelberg. The fair was held in the Hochkelberghalle in the afternoon. The school students had the opportunity to schedule meetings with company representatives in advance. After this, all the other students were also able to choose different companies, conduct interviews and learn about work placements and apprenticeships. Many parents attended accompanied by interested students.
To support Ms Ubl, I was free to talk to the visitors on my own and to inform families about Bilstein & Siekermann®. It was a great experience and it was fun to answer their many questions.
On Friday, we went to Realschule plus school in Thun. The career fair, which was for Year 8 students only, took place in several large rooms within the school. During lessons, students had the opportunity to learn about the different companies and their products and to ask their job and training-related questions to the organisers by means of a questionnaire. Here again, I was allowed to play an active role and represent BSH. I can say that many of the students were very interested and asked a lot of questions.
Attending career fairs is a great way for companies to promote themselves while also getting in touch with work placement students and potential apprentices.
