1. Apprenticeship gathering afternoon at Bilstein & Siekermann GmbH + Co. KG
Those being trained include an office management assistant, two metal cutting mechanics and a tool mechanic. One apprentice, whom we took on as a trainee on 1 February 2019 for the two-year training course “warehouse specialist”, is expected to continue his training as a specialist in warehouse logistics in August.
We organised an introductory afternoon on 20 February 2019 so that the new apprentices and their parents could get a feel for the company, the production and staff.
We met in the despatch department and started the event with a short presentation in which we introduced the apprentices, the supervisors and our youth and training team, and explained what each of them do.
We started with a tour of the production facility. First, the head of despatch, Ansgar Groß, explained the workplaces and processes in the despatch department. After this, we apprentices took over the tour of the production department. First, Niklas (1st year metal cutting mechanic) presented the automatic machine section, Robin (1st year metalworking specialist) explained what he did in the Transco and Seny sections, and then Manuel (2nd year punching/forming mechanic) explained how a pressing machine works. Then Renaldo Betcher, the head of the toolmaking department, showed the toolmaking section and answered questions.
Finally, I explained something about the work of job preparation, how this is linked to production, and Ms Ubl explained the design field.
Finally, we went to our recreational room where other questions were discussed over food and drink and people had the opportunity to chat with one another.
