Life in the Eifel
Where People go on Holiday
Quaint village houses, seemingly endless forests, dormant volcanic mountains and river valleys cut deep into the landscape – that is the Eifel and in its heart is the picturesque town of Hillesheim.
It is precisely here that Bilstein & Siekermann was founded in 1954. Now, as then, this holiday region has much more to offer than meets the eye. There are opportunities for leisure and sports activities both in summer and winter, and its unique flora and fauna provide unique experiences in the natural world. Extensive networks of hiking trains and bike paths lead through the once-volcanic region and provide for balance and relaxation. Crater lakes and thick forests are the jewels lending the Eifel its beauty. Corals and crinoids can be found in the remnant of a sea that existed here approximately 370 million years ago.
Historical buildings and a city wall hem in the core of the old city in Hillesheim. At the same time, the cultural life in the small town draws guests back time and again: Culture and fine dining, open-air theatre, cabaret, galleries and regular fresh foods markets provide a special charm.
Several schools and Kindergartens as well as a number of clubs are located in the region. Hillesheim is conveniently located near the A1 and A3 highways and both Cologne and Koblenz (ca. 90 km) can be reached quickly.
